It constantly amazes me how the Lord is ever present in our lives, and blesses us even when we probably don't deserve it. For the past few months I was really struggling and missed a lot of church. Once I started feeling better and was able to deal with things I wanted to go back, but I was so nervous that I would feel uncomfortable and out of place. I felt like I would have no friends and I would be alone. I didn't tell anyone how I was feeling, but last Sunday and throughout the week I got calls, texts, and visits from people in the ward telling me they missed me. It the very thing I prayed for, and yet I didn't even say a word. In fact, I didn't even know what I needed, but somehow the Lord knew and sent these wonderful women to me.
Saturday came and I started getting nervous again. I told Cassandra she had to come to church with me so I could have a friend there. Immediately, when we walked into the chapel I saw one of the sisters that had reached out to me, and my anxiety fled. I knew I was surrounded by sisters that truly loved and cared for me. I was overwhelmed and knew that this was home. I'm not sure how or why it took me two years to figure it out and really feel at home in this ward, but I am so grateful for the sisters that never gave up on me.
All of the talks and lessons that day were based on serving those around us. It really is the little things that mean the most. I'm not sure if those sisters have any idea what their simple acts of kindness meant to me, but I will never forget them. I hope that I too can reach out and bless another's live as they have done for me! Like I said, it is amazing to me how aware our Savior is of our individual needs. We are truly never alone!

Today I came home at the end of the day from golfing exhausted and wanted more than anything to sleep. I found out that my niece Cassandra who is staying with us still had a ton of homework that was due weeks ago. I sat down and started helping her. As I did, I was reminded of all of the times throughout my schooling where I would have a huge project due (that I had of course put off until the last moment) and my mom, instead of telling me how I shouldn't have put it off, she would stay up with me and help in any way she could. There were times when she couldn't help me but she would stay up with me just so I wouldn't be alone. At the time I'm sure I never thanked her for that, or entirely realized the sacrifice she made for me in doing what seemed to be such a simple thing. However it is the little moments like this that are my favorite memories and that mean the most. I will never forget those nights staying up late and feeling her support. Although I just had a brief glimpse of this tonight, I am so grateful for mothers and the angels that they are. I'm sure, in time, I will get my fair share of late nights doing homework with my children, but I'm sure that wouldn't be the case if my mother hadn't been such a great example! I hope all the mothers out there had a GREAT Mothers Day. We owe them so much.

SO FUNNY! I was teaching everyone how to do the Doug Heffernen hand noise and my Dad was determined to get it and once he did it was hilarious because he was so proud of himself!! Wow, what a night!
Today Chad and I were able to go a deaf temple session! I absolutely the deaf culture. Growing up my friends parents were Deaf so I was introduced to it then, and have always wanted to learn the language. Now I am taking ASL (American Sign Language) classes at BYU. I really wanted to minor in ASL but they don't offer it anymore, which is really sad! Anyway, yesterday, my teacher invited any of us who wanted to go to the deaf session. I have always wanted to go, but didn't know if I was culturally accepted since I am not a part of their community. After I talked to my teacher about it she said that it was fine, so we went. It was such a neat experience, to observe, and only made me love the culture more!
Yes, yes, I know, it's been forever! I wish I had a good excuse as to why I haven't posted in forever, but I got nothing! Anyway, things are crazy as usual. I really want to find a new place to live. We haven't fell in love with anything yet, so the search is still on! We are both doing great and staying busy. Unfortunately no exciting news. However, I will try to do better with posting and hopefully make our blog fun and not so boring.
